SMASHED PEAS

‘Smashed Peas’ is a short, hand-drawn cartoon depicting two 30s-something friends that carried on as two peas-in-a-pod in New York’s West Village. They even lived two blocks apart. The peas liked riding their bikes around the neighborhood, especially to a local Irish dive, The Four-Faced Liar, where they’d often find their pal, Matty, nursing a rum and coke and the bouncer, big ol’ Trevor, rejecting and ejecting the stinking drunks. Trevor intimidated the right people and hugged the right people. The peas always got a bone-crushing hug.

One night, they excitedly cruised to Four Face on bicycles where Trevor greeted them with an exaggerated eye-roll at their hammy pairedness before granting entrance and giving them both a signature Trevor hug. This cartoon is about that vignette. Except instead of being people on bikes, they are peas traveling in their wheeled pod fated to become smashed not by cheap beers, but rather, Trevor’s mis-calibrated clutch! Worry not, though. These peas are quick to laugh at absurd outcomes and will be pod-cruising again soon.
